Back therapy reimagined—the root of the problem

Back pain rarely stems from a single cause. It is the result of muscular imbalances, neural dysregulation, chronic stress, and cellular deficiency. reLounge treats all levels simultaneously.

The numbers speak for themselves

Back pain — Germany's No. 1 public health issue

80% of Germans have back pain, have had it, or will have it. Back pain is not a sign of weakness. It is a systemic problem that burdens the healthcare system, the economy, and the quality of life for millions.

Germans affected
8 out of 10

8 out of 10 Germans will experience at least one episode of back pain in their lifetime.

Germans affected
95%

8 out of 10 Germans will experience at least one episode of back pain in their lifetime.

Of all sick days
31%

Back pain is the single most common reason for sick leave in Germany.

Relapse rate
60%

Without treating the root cause, 60% of those affected return within 12 months.

Standard treatments work on the surface. Heat, massage, and painkillers—they dampen the signal without addressing the root cause. Back therapy, as reLounge defines it, begins where conventional approaches end.

How reLounge works

One body — four levels of action

reLounge therapy is not a single measure. It combines four scientifically proven principles of action into one application — tailored to the actual cause of your discomfort.

Muscular

EMS reactivates deep core muscles that have atrophied due to a lack of movement or protective posture. Goal: regulate muscle tone — not relax it.

Neural

TENS modulates pain signals directly at the source. Low-frequency impulses promote the release of endorphins; medium-frequency currents penetrate deeper into the tissue.

Cellular & Thermal

Infrared heat improves microcirculation, reactivates mitochondrial activity, and accelerates regeneration at the cellular level.

Why relaxation isn't enough

Goal: Regulation — not relaxation

The most common misconception in back therapy: relaxation solves the problem. In reality, back muscles don't need rest — they need regulation. Muscle tone that is too low is just as problematic as tension.

EMS delivers precisely calibrated impulses that return the muscle to its optimal state of activation. The nervous system learns to reintegrate deep stabilizers into the movement chain. The result: postural stability without active exertion.

The technology behind reLounge

Four frequencies. One effect.

TENS — Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation

TENS sends low-frequency electrical impulses through the skin directly to nerve pathways. It is used clinically for pain modulation in cases of chronic back pain, herniated discs, and pinched nerves. The impulses block the transmission of pain signals to the brain (gate control theory) and stimulate the release of the body's own endorphins.

TENS is one of the most thoroughly researched methods of electrotherapy and has been used in clinical pain therapy for decades — now conveniently and regularly accessible at every reLounge.

From medicine to application

Which conditions is reLounge suitable for?

reLounge is not a wellness treatment—it is a medically certified therapy device. Its effectiveness is documented for the following clinical indications.

Muscular imbalances

Imbalances between agonists and antagonists—e.g., dominant hip flexors—cause chronic strain. EMS reactivates the neglected side of the muscle chain.

Spinal canal stenosis

TENS reduces pain signals directly at the source. Muscle stabilization and decompression relieve pressure on the nerves. Low- and medium-frequency impulses promote endorphins and act deep within the tissue.

Herniated discs

TENS reduces nerve pain, low frequency stabilizes the segment, and heat promotes the regeneration of fibrocartilage. A damaged disc only heals through decompression and microcirculation.

Stress & mental health

Chronic stress leads to permanently elevated cortisol levels and muscle tension. Low-frequency parasympathetic stimulation breaks the psychosomatic cycle.

Nerve-related issues

Sciatica, tingling, numbness—often caused by nerves compressed by muscles or discs. TENS specifically deactivates the pain signal chain.

Cellular level

Infrared heat activates the mitochondria, improves oxygen transport, and promotes the production of collagen and proteoglycans—the building blocks of healthy intervertebral discs.

Back therapy you can feel

There is a wide gap between medical knowledge and everyday therapy. Physiotherapists are fully booked. Surgeries are risky. Medications mask pain without treating the cause.

reLounge bridges this gap: A 30-minute session in the lounge combines four therapeutic modalities into one comfortable, passive application. No waiting lists. No hospital. No side effects.
